We are a center for scientific research and technology development, committed to cutting-edge knowledge generation in digital systems and the formation of highly qualified professionals at the graduate level, that have the ability to innovate and foster technology.
To be an internationally recognized science and technology research center with certified graduate programs that aims for a scientific, technological, industrial and educational development of Mexico, with social, ethical, fair and respectful commitment.
Our 20 researchers are focused on three main areas:
The control systems group investigates methodologies and designs robust controllers based on non-linear H-infinite and variable structure perspectives, in cases when the model is not known or when consideration of the dynamics of the actuators is mandatory; with applications to inverted pendulums, aerial and space vehicles, and mechanical systems.
Intelligent control based on fuzzy logic type-2 and similar techniques, with applications to safe and efficient trajectory planning of mobile robots, and to intelligent controller designs of electromechanical systems, is also studied.
Important basic scientific research is conducted as well in dynamical analysis of tumor-growth models, in order to determine the conditions that lead to the elimination of tumor cells.
A diverse group of researchers works in the areas of: advanced image processing systems and pattern recognition, where FPGA- and GPU-based digital architectures and algorithms are developed for applications such as real-time visibility enhancement in the presence of haze, object recognition and tracking in 3D space, face recognition and emotion recognition through facial expression; circuits and systems modeling and design for telecommunications systems; remote sensing imaging technology in the visible and near infrared spectrum for nanosatellites; far-distance iris recognition under non-controlled environmental conditions; and multimedia indexing for cultural heritage preservation.
Research focuses in parallel and quantum computing principles and algorithms, making use of high performance computing platforms such as GPU clusters, with applications in medical image processing, combinatorial computing and complex model solving and visualization.
Quality programs certified by the National Council on Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT).
